Beautycounter: Countertime Collection
I am Jesse Spano excited about this one y’all. As I mentioned in my post about the Countermatch Collection, I plan on breaking down every collection, giving you all the details.
THIS collection is the one I’ve been most looking forward to trying and now that I’ve tried… sharing. I splurged and bought the entire collection and look forward to using it everyday. I’ve only been using it a week, so not long enough to validate the 4 week results claims, but I can tell you my skin is more hydrated and soft than ever and I catch myself in the mirror and swear my skin is more glowy. This line is RICH, below I will share my personal stand outs in this collection later.
A Bit about Beautycounter
If you aren’t familiar with Beautycounter, it’s more than just skincare and cosmetics, but a movement for safe products. They have banned over 1,800 chemicals commonly used in American cosmetics in their products and implement the highest standard for quality and regulation. The company is pushing for new legislation to update cosmetics regulations that havent been changed since the 1920’s!
Many common ingredients are actually toxic- linked to cancer, infertility and other issues. Beautycounter believes that beauty should be good for you, and you shouldn’t have to sacrifice health for high performing products.

Let’s talk about Retinol. If you are in your 30’s, theres a good chance you’ve been prescribed this if aging is a concern- I was on it for years until we began trying to get pregnant. It hadn’t dawned on me that skincare products could pose such harm to a fetus, but my doctor said he was more concerned about the Retinol than any of the other meds I was on. Retinol can have major side effects even when not pregnant- you can research it for yourself. For me… if there is an equally powerful option that is safer.. thats a big ol’ DUH.
This is Beautycounter’s most potent anti-aging line featuring two powerhouse plant based ingredients that rival retinol, calling it their Retinatural Complex:
- Backuchiol is a mouthful, but a GEM. Derived from the seeds of an Indian plant, this nectar “…has been shown to provide skin-care results that are comparable to retinol—without harmful side effects such as skin irritation and increased sun sensitivity.”
- Swiss Alpine Rose is a super antioxidant that is “…renowned for its remarkable ability to protect itself against dehydration and other environmental stressors at the highest altitudes of the Swiss Alps.”
***This line is best for those who are already showing signs of aging. At 34, I am showing signs of aging mainly on my forehead (sigh). It is time to step up the skincare game. I used to use Retinol, but now that I’m pregnant that’s off the table, but even more so, I am now informed about that isn’t the safest choice. If you don’t yet have wrinkles, but want to prevent them, then the Countermatch line may be a better fit.
After four weeks:

The Goods
STEP 1: Countertime Lipid Defense Cleansing Oil, $49
Cleansing oils are all the rage right now and for good reason- oils deep clean without stripping your natural oils aka lipids. Squeaky clean doesn’t mean clean… but stripped! This one is lightweight but luxurious AF and smells heavenly, I use a makeup remover wipe first, but oil cleansers do a great job of removing makeup and impurities. Rich in fatty acids, vitamin E and the Retinatural Complex mentioned above.
STEP 2: Countertime Mineral Boost Hydrating Essence, $59
Ok, I’m going to be honest with you. This was one of those products that I justnthought was “fluff”… it came with the collection, so I’ve been using it as directed.. and I find myself now looking forward to using it! “Essences” are a Korean beauty thing- think of it like a toner that you pat on your face with your hands. This milky liquid is lightweight but moisturizing and is packed with the same Retinatural Complex, mineral-rich sea water, and a fermented sugars- to renew and balance the skin. And smells AH-MAZING.
STEP 3: Countertime Tripeptide Radiance Serum, $79 – BEST SELLER
Don’t walk, run to this one. THIS BABY IS NO JOKE. Seriously. If you can only get one or two items, this would be one to consider. As with all serums, this is where you are going to get the most potent ingredients. Contains blend of peptides, amino acids, and the Retinatural Complex. It goes on super lightweight but seriously gives your skin a glow. LOVE- and Beautycounter website says it’s in low supply so don’t hesitate with this baby. TIP: Apply this while the essence is still damp for maximum absorption.

STEP 4 (DAY): Countertime Antioxidant Soft Cream, $79
This is the Countertime day cream and it is designed to plump and firm the skin as well as hydrate and protect from environment. Formulated with the Retinatural Complex to reduce wrinkles and Nasturtium flower extract to oxygentate and protect the skin.
STEP 4 (NIGHT): Countertime Tetrapeptide Supreme Cream, $90 BEST SELLER
THIS MAY BE MY FAVORITE BEAUTYCOUNTER PRODUCT OF ALL and my new HOLY GRAIL of night creams. 1,700 5 star reviews! Seriously, the sample I got of this was so amazing it made me want to sell Beautycounter. A tiny bit of this goes a long way and it a SUPER rich night cream thats been compared to La Mer. This night cream is rich and deeply hydrating and is designed to improve elasticity and visibly firm while minimizing the look of fine lines and wrinkles. This along with the serum is a GAME CHANGER.

STEP 5: Ultra Renewal Eye Cream, $70
Ok, so this would make my top three. I love a super rich, hydrating eye cream. I used Kiehl’s Avocado Eye Cream religiously, until I learned it contained hormone disrupters. I tried so many but nothing held a candle until this. This is rich and a dream under concealer. Containing the Retinatural complex and Persian Silk Tree Extract, it reduces the appearance of under-eye shadows and crow’s feet.
Clinically proven to:
- Reduce under-eye puffiness
- Visibly increase skin firmness
- Decrease the appearance of under-eye discoloration
- Reduce the appearance of crow’s feet, fine lines, and wrinkles

Caroline’s Take…
This is a seriously incredible line. I have only been using ir religiously for a week and I swear that already I am seeing a difference in my skin. Can’t wait to see the effect after four weeks.
If you are in your mid 30’s and up, or are seeing visible signs of aging… give this one a shot. This line is more expensive than the Countermatch line (geared towards hydration and age prevention) due to the formulation and potency- so if you can’t afford the whole regimen, I HIGHLY recommend the serum and Supreme Cream.. and if you can swing it, the eye cream.
If you aren’t yet showing wrinkles, and are perhaps in your 20’s or early 30’s and are looking to prevent aging, the Countermatch Line may be a better fit.
If you are oily and suffer from acne, then definitely checkout the Countercontrol line.
You can purchase the entire Countertime Face Regimen (cleanser, essence, serum, soft cream and supreme cream) for $267. Which I get, it isn’t cheap- but this will cost you the same amount as the rivaling (non-clean brands) at the department store. Not to mention, these products contain no fillers, so they are very potent- a little goes a long way and will last you! And you never have to question safety in ingredients.
